Call for Applications for the 2019 Disability Studies Master's/ Ph.D. Thesis Award

Bogazici University Social Policy Forum and Research Worldwide Istanbul, with the support of Lund University Raoul Wallenberg Institute, calls for application for the 2019 Disability Studies Graduate Thesis Award for master's and Ph.D. theses on issues pertaining to the human rights of people with disabilities. This award aims to encourage young scholars from different fields of social sciences to conduct original empirical disability studies research in Turkish universities.

The award winners will be announced with a ceremony on 10th of December 2019, the Human Rights Day.

The amount of award is 5,000TL for Master’s and 10,000TL for the Ph.D. thesis. The award committee may also grant an honorable mention in each category if necessary. If the award committee would not deem any thesis worthy of the award, the prize may not be awarded for that year.

Application deadline: October 15th, 2019

Application requirements:

The master's/ Ph.D. thesis which will be nominated for the award should be completed and approved within two years since the application deadline. The language of the thesis should be Turkish or English. A nominated thesis cannot be eligible if it received an award before.

Requested documents during application:

  • Master’s/ Ph.D. thesis of the candidate which is approved and submitted to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A motivation letter on the application for the award (max.1000 words)
  • Graduation diploma

All requested documents should be sent to spf@boun.edu.tr by e-mail in PDF format no later than October 15th, 2019. The e-mail subject line should be as follows: "Graduate Master/ Ph.D. Thesis Award – Name Surname".
