Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Social Policy

Boğaziçi University Social Policy Program (https://socpol.boun.edu.tr/) is seeking highly qualified applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position.

Boğaziçi University is the leading public university in Turkey and has a strong tradition of international collaborations. Founded in 1863 under the name of Robert College, being the first American college founded outside the borders of the US, it served as a leading international institution of higher learning in the region for more than a century and then was transformed into a Turkish public university in 1971. Boğaziçi University is currently a major research university in Istanbul, Turkey. It has four faculties and two schools offering undergraduate degrees, and six institutes offering graduate degrees. The language of instruction is English. The Social Policy Program is an interdisciplinary social sciences master’s program aiming at introducing the students to the study of social and economic dynamics that engender poverty and inequalities and the social policies tackling these problems in a historically grounded and comparative perspective.

The position is only open to Turkish citizens, with an anticipated beginning date of September 2019.Candidates with an interdisciplinary social science PhD degree are particularly encouraged.The successful candidates must either be a Ph.D. holder or should receive his/her degree before September 2019 and must meet the following official publication criteria for recruitment in the Social Policy Program: 1) S/he must have published at least two articles in a SSCI-indexed journal, or 2) S/he must have published at least one article in a SSCI-indexed journal and have published at least one article in a SCI-Expanded indexed journal or a book chapter printed by a prestigious international publisher. Priority will be given to those candidates with a specialization in social care policies, child well-being and gender. S/he must have demonstrated potential for academic excellence in both teaching and research productivity. The curriculum is in English and the typical teaching load is 2 courses per semester. Candidates will be expected to teach graduate courses, develop a strong research program, and supervise Master’s level research.
